Major Construction and Changes at ICM

Thanks to the generous support of the Thunderbirds Charities, ICM is modernizing the operations, and upgrading the food storage area (warehouse) to central air conditioning from evaporative cooling. The building was built in the 1960s as a furniture warehouse, not for food storage. With the current layout, the large storage area was cooled to only 95 degrees in the hot summer months. Central air will decrease the temperature for the food storage area to >80 degrees, reducing food spoilage particularly in bread and soft food products.

In addition to air conditioning the warehouse, the children's clothing room has been expanded and remodeled to serve more families. That room will reopen for families in a week or so, and the warehouse work will be completed before the real heat hits!

We want to say a special thanks to Don Hughes, longtime ICM volunteer building manager, for his great support in this new construction project.
